We’ve been helping one of our runners identify a suitable 100 mile race. Thought worth sharing the very long list of 100 mile races we have in the UK. We found over 50 races in the diary for 2025. The list is below and hopefully can help you find a suitable 100 miler. You can access an Excel version here [link].
In choosing a 100 miler there many factors worth considering. Take a look at this article about how to choose a race. The table below shows some of the things to think about
Some of the other factors also worth considering are what support is provided, price (vary from £40 to over £400 which reflects the support you get), finish rate, ethos of the event and the qualifying criteria.
We have included 24 hour races since faster runners will be able to complete 100 miles in 24 hours particularly since many of these are quite flat. These are also lapped races which is great since you get back to your support frequently (403 times in a athletics track race). However, beware that these can be rather repetitive as well as giving many many opportunities to drop out. We haven’t included back yard ultras (BYU) - it is more difficult to complete a 100 miles (which is 24 ‘yards’) in a BYU than in a 24 hour race, and also, you can’t do 24 yards unless someone else does 23 yards. All about BYUs in the UK - look here.
A few shout outs to some notable events: Lakeland 100 is I think the longest running (17 years); Norn Iron 100 is Northern Ireland’s only 100 miler; the most generous cut-offs seem to be Sirona 100 and Epona 100 (50 hours). And there are no 100 milers in February or March.
Let is know if we have made any mistakes (we’ve had to guess some figures) or if we have missed a race. There were some 100 milers in 2024 where we can’t find the 2025 race: White Rose Ultra 100; Dartmoor Way - The Full Circle; Lady Anne's Way 100; 24 hour Gloucester; White Horse 100; and Loch Ness 24.
